Michael Chekhov Acting Technique Workshop with Marjolein Baars (NL)
„The Imaginary Body as a tool of characterization“
in Frankfurt a.M. /Germany on 9.+10. October 2010

The Imaginary Body is one of Michael Chekhov´s inspiring tools, used to characterize a role beyond intellectual or psychological approaches.
It opens, as all tools of the MCAT, a door to one´s unique creative individuality and helps to find a character in a joyful, playful process.

This workshop adresses actors, directors, as well as for professionals and students associated with the performing arts.

Teaching language will be English and German.
Participants can play in their own language
There will be space to work individually.

Please bring comfortable training clothes and shoes.
Please read and bring Shakespeare´s “King Lear” in your language.
Feel free as well to bring a character and piece of text you want to work on.

FEE: 150 €, Students : 130 €

TIMES : Saturday, 9. 10. 10-17h
Sunday, 10.10. 10- 16h

APPLICATION
Applications will be registered once the application form has been returned and the fee is paid.
Your place will be confirmed by mail as soon as possible thereafter. Your application is definite and irrevocable. The fee is non-refundable, unless someone else fills your place (for example from a possible waiting list). In that case there will be an administrative charge of € 25, - (+ € 12 bank costs for payments from non-EU countries).
In case the workshop will not take place MCE will send back the whole sum.
Deadline is the 20th September 2010.

Marjolein Baars is artistic director of tiny hero productions, Buzzing Red and De Stichting Koffer in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Marjolein attended the Mime school in Amsterdam and has been working as an independent performer, director, clown and teacher since 1986. After her studies in Speech and Drama in the Netherlands and England, she specialised in the Michael Chekhov acting technique and in clowning and has been working with the Michael Chekhov technique since 1991. Between ‘94 and ‘99 Marjolein was a teacher and an artistic director of the Tsjechov Theater Studio.
She started in 1999 her own company tiny hero productions in which she created original theatre work and started intensive clown and MC trainings.
In 2003 she organized the international workshop in Amsterdam. Since 2000 she is a faculty and board member of MICHA and since 2006 a founding member of Michael Chekhov Europe.
Marjolein has given workshops and performances in The Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, England, Italy, the United States, Russia and Australia. She was recently invited to give master classes and workshops at the Moscow Theatre ‘School of Dramatic Arts’ in Russia and Exeter University in England

In 2005 she finished her post graduate studies Art in Society and started, next to her clown and theatre work, projects for family, caretakers and artists that work with people suffering from Alzheimer disease.

Marjolein loves working with people, questions and obstacles that address creativity, acting and imagination in the broadest sense.
